Veteran Care

Veteran Care - Supporting Your Health After Service

At our practice, we are committed to providing dedicated and understanding care for veterans. If you have served in the Armed Forces, letting your GP practice know helps us ensure you receive the most appropriate support. You can also choose whether you’d like to be identified as a veteran in your NHS medical records. Sharing any health conditions related to your service, physical or mental, allows us to connect you with the right services quickly.

Many veterans experience mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These symptoms can appear during service or develop after leaving the forces. While the culture of the Armed Forces may sometimes discourage seeking help, it’s important to know that these conditions are treatable, and many people go on to recover or manage them effectively.

NHS Scotland, together with specialist veteran services, offers a wide range of care and tailored mental health support. Your GP is the best starting point—they can discuss your concerns confidentially and arrange referrals to dedicated services when needed. Out-of-hours help and additional support organisations are also available to ensure you have access to care whenever you need it.

We’re here to support your wellbeing and make sure you receive the care you deserve following your service.
