Do you suffer from migraines with aura, or a headache associated with weakness or numbness on one side of your face or body, or difficulty with speech? *

Aura is where there are specific warning signs just before the migraine begins, for example a change in your vision. See Migraine Trust information online for clarification. If you are uncertain please contact the practice. It is vital that you do not take combined oral contraception if you have migraine with aura, as this is known to increase your risk of stroke.

If you miss a pill, you may be at risk of an unplanned pregnancy. The rules for missed pills vary for the different pills and advice regarding this is usually listed in your pill packet. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the practice.

Smear tests are an essential tool to prevent cervical cancer. They are offered to everyone with a cervix between the age of 25 and 64 and up to 70yrs for non routine follow up. The routine screening interval is every 5yrs. You will have received an invitation to book from the National Screening service if due. Are you up to date with your cervical screening?

You should be aware that no contraceptive pill is protective against sexually- transmitted infections. Full sexual health screening is available from Chalmers Sexual Health Centre.
