Update 24 Sept 2020    -  staffing and telephone issues

Due to unforseen staffing problems we are limiting calls to urgent only.  We apologise for this and hope to return to normal circumstances as soon as possible.

Unfortunately we are also experiencing ongoing intermittent faults with our telephone system.  We are in contact with our supplier to try to resolve these as quickly as possible.

We realise how frustrating this will be if you are trying to contact us and appreciate your understanding and co-operation.   Thank you.

We receive a large number of patient urine samples which all require processing at the Practice prior to being sent to the Lab for further testing, if this is relevant.  Many of these samples have no detail about who requested them or why they are being requested.  This makes the Practice processing procedure longer than necessary and if there is inadequate detail it may not be possible for your sample to be tested by the Practice or Lab.

In order to ensure our process is efficient for both patients and staff we recently made some changes to our procedure.  These are detailed below:

After 3.00pm – We will be unable to accept samples, in a white topped bottle, after 3.00pm as they cannot be kept overnight/over the weekend and would need to be repeated.

Before 3.00pm – We will be unable to accept samples which have not been requested by one of the Practice GPs unless they are labelled and bagged correctly.

Should your sample not have been requested by one of the Practice GPs we will ask you to complete a short form detailing who asked for this and why it is being requested.

Thank you for your understanding
