If you occasionally need medication which has been agreed with your GP in the past but is not on your list of repeat prescriptions - such as hay fever treatment - it may be possible, at the doctor's discretion, to issue a prescription on request.  We deal with special requests on an individual basis but if the doctor cannot be sure that the medicine will be safe and effective for you, you will be asked to make an appointment to discuss it.

Special request prescriptions can be ordered in all the same ways as repeat prescriptions and follow the same procedures for collection.  Please see "prescription ordering/collection times" tab for further information.

Sometimes when you are issued a new drug the doctor does not put it on your record as a repeat item initially and it will have to be ordered as a special request until it is known if you will continue on it long term.
