VACCINATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY

As per the Scottish Government, from 1 April 2022, over 99% of vaccinations will be moving away from General Practice and will instead be delivered by community teams run by individual health boards instead. To preserve patient safety and continuity, all vaccine schedules initiated in General Practice will be completed by General Practice e.g., second dose Shingrix and the remaining re-vaccinations following stem cell transplant.

This change will include the following: travel health and travel vaccines, pneumococcal vaccine for aged 65 and over, at risk adults and at risk children, Shingles vaccine, vaccines for students, vaccinations for children and school pupils and unscheduled vaccinations (such as MMR, HepA and HepB), post stem cell transplant (provided their vaccination course was not started by General Practice), post-exposure vaccines and vaccines for those at risk (including occupational risk).

COMMUNITY VACCINATIONS: REFERRAL PATHWAY AND CONTACT DETAILS

The following document explains, in further detail, the vaccination criteria for patients for each vaccine type, how referrals can be made for the vaccination appointment and the contact details for patients to use in order to book appointments.

CHILD IMMUNISATIONS

Child Immunisation Sevices are provided by Nurses employed directly by the Central Community Vaccination team within the NHS. Appointments are normally carried out in the practice on Fridays and are arranged by this team directly by letter or by contacting them on 0131 312 1860. Please note: the practice does NOT have access to their appointments diary and we would therefore ask you to contact this team directly using the number above if you need to cancel or reschedule appointments,

NEUROPROGRESSIVE AND DEMENTIA RESEARCH REGISTER

Are you affected by Neuroprogressive Conditions?

NRS Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network (NRSND Network) is the leading NHS organisation in Scotland for clinical research into memory impairment, dementia and other neuroprogressive conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and Motor Neurone disease (MND).

The network runs a portfolio of clinical trials that are investigating the effects of new treatments and questionnaire-based studies that can be competed at home.

Are you interested in taking part in clinical research?

We are asking people that have a neuroprogessive condition and are interested in taking part in research studies to sign up to our Permissions To Contact scheme (PTC scheme).

By providing the network with your contact details, network staff can contact you about research studies that you are suitable for and you can decide whether or not to take part.

Signing up to the PTC Scheme you only agree to be contacted about relevant studies.

For further information please contact the NRSND Network either by email:

tay.ndntayside@nhs.scot or by phone on 01382 423086 and leave your name and contact details and someone from the network will get back to you.
