Ways to order your prescription

The easiest ways to order your prescriptions are:

  • Via this website.  Click HERE to access your login screen.  Please see "collecting your prescription" section for collection timings.
  • Using your Patient Online Services account.  This is a separate online account which links directly to your patient record.  Please see "collecting your prescription" section for collection timings.
  • Via your pharmacy.  Please allow 5 working days for collection.
  • Prescription request slip on the right hand side of your prescription.  Bring this slip to the surgery - see our opening times here.   Please see "collecting your prescription" section for collection timings.

Please note, we do not take prescription requests over the phone.

Collecting your prescription

For requests sent directly to the practice you can collect your prescription after 3 working days.

For requests sent via a third party, usually a pharmacy, you should allow an additional 2 days on top of the 3 working days practice processing time.  Your prescription will be ready after 5 working days from when you dropped it off at the pharmacy.  This timescale is longer as there is extra time involved in a pharmacy bringing the request to the practice and collecting it once it has been processed and signed.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
